This year we are gearing up our dance teacher training programme and expanding our opportunities for dancers to become teachers. This includes a number of vacancies for students to train alongside experienced teachers to learn hands-on under a mentoring programme.
The course also includes six two-hour training workshops consisting of educational sessions and practical exercises. In this first workshop we cover expectations, concepts and strategies, and exercises to help consolidation the information.
Our course fits with Level 1 & 2 New Zealand Curriculum which identifies five key competencies:
- thinking
- using language, symbols, and texts
- managing self
- relating to others
- participating and contributing.
These are integrated into understanding the Art, developing practical skills, developing ideas, interpretation and communication.

- To ensure safety issues remain paramount and are addressed appropriately;
